Most people nowadays that sport the badges probably don't know the true meaning behind them.

But for us "old schoolers" who have been in the scene for quite some time, it's meant to signify a love and admiration for the Japanese auto-culture. The same reason why we would buy a 20 year old Toyota Corolla and restore it.

The fact that I'd choose a beginner badge over an elderly badge, which I have done, is to poke fun at myself and keep humor in the mix.

I hope you have a better understanding now. Quite frankly, I am turned off by the overexcessive use of decals plastered on some of the Honda Civics I see. 1 or 2 is fine.

I work at a sticker shop and i constantly have kids coming and asking for a JDM sticker with the Shoshinsha badges. I think its a joke, almost like saying, "ya I'm a reckless driver!"

Think about our propaganda, how the movies portray japanese drivers, anyone remember 'Tokyo Drift?'

JDM can also stand for Japanese Domestic Motorsports, because these kids trick out and race these cars.
