A nightly ‘mom and dad’ ritual with our nearly 3 year old son is to read a book in bed, and lay down with him until he falls asleep. Problem is, both mom and dad usually fall asleep with him.
Okay, so the other night, we’re laying in bed, and I start to doze off. My son says, “dad, wake up, you’re making too much noise,” referring to my snoring. “You’re bothering me and mommy.”
“Sorry,” I said, “I’ll try to be more quiet.”
“No, it’s too loud.”
“umm - I’m sorry - do you want me to leave?”
“Yes, you go upstairs and try to be quiet,” he whispered.
“But I like laying down next to you - it will make daddy sad to have to leave,” I pleaded.
“Sorry, you really should leave so me and mommy can sleep. You can wake me up in the morning.”
How’s that? Kicked out of the room by a toddler!
